We’ve got a short week this week due to the 4th of July Holiday, but we’ve had a lot of boats coming in with some unbelievable catches! The exception being the Northeast, availability has been spotty and what has been caught remains pricey.
In the Gulf…
Whole Domestic Grouper will be tight due to hurricane Debby; all boats staying in until after the 4th to wait out the storm and celebrate the 4th before going back to fishing as the Gulf settles out.
We do have a good supply of Mexican Grouper Filet, but it is a bit on the expensive side for this time of year.
On the West Coast…
The big news is Wild Alaskan Salmon. We have trucks rolling in with Sockeye Salmon from all over the state, as well as the featured ‘Blue Back’ Columbia River Sockeye Salmon, which is the first Sockeye to appear in the commercial marketplace in 50 years. For a change, we brought the fish in head-on, making them great for display and for cutting. These head-on fish are running at $4.29/lb… an unbelievable price!
These are Pictures of The Columbia River Blueback Sockeyes and of the Native Americans on the Columbia River using dip nets in their ancient tradition to catch the Columbia River Sockeyes.
We also have a good supply of Wild Alaskan King Salmon, a high-quality fish with excellent flavor.
We have availability of some beautiful 2, 3, 4, and 5 ounce portions of Deep-skin Sockeye Salmon at an incredible value! All are skinless and boneless 100% usable and packed in 5 lb. units. Prices will be less than for Atlantic salmon portions and are listed below:
2 oz sockeye portions $4.99/lb
3 oz sockeye portions $5.79/lb
4 oz sockeye portions $7.29/lb
5 oz sockeye portions $8.99/lb
We will be offering volume discounts if you can take 15lbs. or more, this is a great item as an introduction to the true flavor of Wild Alaskan Salmon which ought not to be missed! We will have this delicious fish regularly for the next 3-4 weeks. There’s no better time to experience one of the true gifts of nature from Alaska.
In Other News…
Swordfish is a great value this weekend. It is a wonderful grilling fish – very appropriate for your weekend barbecue feature mixed with the season’s first heirloom tomatoes.
We have some good quality High #2 Tuna on hand at great prices from the boats bringing in the swordfish.
In addition, there are numerous opportunities on Halibut, both Day boat East Coast as well as West Coast Alaskan Halibut.
There is good run of Fluke Flounder out of Long Island and Martha’s Vineyard and we have these sushi Flounder and a great price.
As a special this week we brought in California White Sea Bass which is very tasty and a true West Coast/L.A. area specialty.
That’s all for this week, we hope everyone had a Safe and Happy Independence Day!
